The main body of our museum is held in the ‘Barnby Room’ at our Drill Hall at Carlton Nottingham. Here we have an extensive collection of medals, uniforms, pictures and other historical artefacts.
We have recently digitised many of our old photographs and pictures and if you are interested in gaining further information about the history of SRY or have anything you think might that might be of interest to us, please contact Admin [@] sry.org.uk
There are a number of books written by various members of the regiment available for purchase. All together these give a comprehensive and fascinating account of the history of the regiment.
We also have a public collection at the Queens Royal Lancers and Nottinghamshire Yeomanry Museum located in the Courtyard at Thoresby Park near Perlethorpe, North Nottinghamshire.
Here we trace our history alongside the Queens Royal Lancers and South Nottinghamshire Hussars. As well as learning about the thrilling history of the British cavalry you can see dedicated display cases showing SRY’s tank battles during WWII across North Africa and from D-Day to VE Day.
The museum also features learning and activity zones for children and is open to the public from 1st March to 30th September, Wednesday to Sunday (including Bank Holidays) from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm. Museum entry is free
We are always keen to welcome people as Friends of the QRLNY museum. Friends receive a six monthly newsletter and are invited to various events we hold throughout the year. If you are interested in becoming a friend of the museum please see our webpage.
Members of the Midlands Branch of the SRY Regimental Association provide a rota of volunteers who act as guides to the museum at weekends. If you would like to volunteer for this enjoyable task please contact Admin [@] sry.org.uk
